Define "good deal" as you stated. I have vehicles I can discount nearly 10K including rebates. I’m sure you were looking at a low-end car with 8% mark up and wanted a 25% discount.

btw — do you know how many troy ounces are in a pound? is gold priced in troy ounces or regular ounces? and how do you tell what the carat [quality] of gold items are?

I want to buy a car privately. The Government of Ontario website says that the taxes owed on such a purchase are based on the sale price of the car or the Canadian Red Book wholesale value, whichever is greater. Should these wholesale values not be made available to the public for free? Or to put it another way, shouldn’t our taxes be providing this as a public service?

I have just read the info in mto.gov.on.ca and it was stated there if you got your car from a family or relative you will not pay the said tax but if you are oblige to pay it.
